Sustainability is an integral part of our business and is something that everyone at REMONDIS Medison practices every single day. On the one hand because our recycling activities enable valuable raw materials to be recovered and returned to production cycles. And on the other because sustainability is not simply a corporate purpose but an incentive as well. No matter whether it has to do with planning the routes our trucks take or with energy consumption in our facilities – we always do everything in our power to protect the environment, prevent climate change and keep our carbon footprint as small as possible. Indeed, our actions reflect the general mission of the group. It’s not without reason that REMONDIS has been named one of the TOP 3 businesses for the German Sustainability Award on several different occasions.

Sustainability at REMONDIS Medison focuses on many different features, two of which are health and safety. As we deal with infectious waste every single day, we only use systems that comply with the most stringent of standards. This has led to us being granted “expert status”, which well-known institutes have also benefited from. In 2014, for example, REMONDIS Medison employees were part of a group of experts responsible for drawing up an official guide on how to deal with Ebola waste. Our practical knowledge is also in high demand as can be seen by the logistics concept that we compiled and implemented to store, collect, transport and dispose of Ebola-contaminated waste. All information about the different material streams is continuously recorded, analysed and documented here, as well, to guarantee full transparency throughout. This, too, is a feature of sustainability.
